Notorious Women
(ONGOING SERIES)
Throughout history women have caused wars, defied the rules, and been labeled as “bad” for their actions. The famous and the infamous, queens, divorcées, actresses, and outlaws have created a ruckus during their lifetimes-turning heads while making waves. These watercolor paintings are about female risk-takers and their sexy, shocking, and sinister deeds; women who have flouted convention, beaten odds, and determined the course of world events. Within the paintings I include my artistic comments about types of behavior and how they are perceived.
"Part of a growing group of crisp, satirical narrative painters addressing various social issues, Li Turner has embraced an encyclopedia of injustices and dilemmas, but always with a gentle, deprecating wit." — Matthew Kangas, writer and art critic
All paintings in this series are available as Archival Prints (limited edition of 10).
